Neon Moon Entertainment Traditional Wedding Timeline 1. Guest arrive at reception: a. Drinks and snacks are served. b. Soft music played in background. 2. Announcement of wedding party: a. DJ introduces wedding party. TRADITIONAL ORDER- Groom’s parents, bride’s parents, flower girl and ring bearer, bridesmaids escorted by ushers, maid of honor escorted by best man, and finally bride and groom 3. Champagne Toasts: b. DJ asks everyone to take their seats c. DJ introduces best man after everyone is seated d. Best man makes his toast first and then others may be followed. Maid of honor, other relatives, friends, and/or the bride and groom. 4. The blessing. a. DJ is to introduce the person who will be saying the blessing. b. Person chosen by bride and groom gives blessing. 5. Dinner is served. TRADITIONAL ORDER- Bride, Groom, maid of honor, best man, bridesmaids, ushers, bride and groom’s parents, remainder of guest. b. If dinner is buffet, you should dismiss one to three tables at a time. 6. Cut and serve cake. a. Bride and groom cut cake hand over hand and feed each other the first piece. (Be nice!) b. Afterwards, pass cake to other guest. 7. Bride and groom’s first dance. a. The first dance is always reserved for the bride and groom. OPTION- some people choose to do the first dance before dinner so that people have the option to get up after they are finished dancing. b. Choose a song that has lots of meaning to the bride and groom, and this will be the one dance they will never forget. 8. Other special dances. a. The bride and groom may choose to have special dances set aside for parents, grandparents, or siblings. EX- Father and bride. Mother and groom. etc.
